Tai Chi for Longevity

Sifu Marvin S. German Jr. brings a rare integration of traditional martial arts mastery, modern sports medicine, and real-world performance training to the study and teaching of Tai Chi.

With over fifty-five years of martial arts training, Sifu German has studied under numerous grandmasters and senior masters. After decades of refinement, he was formally granted permission to create his own martial form, integrating Tai Chi principles, rooting, breath control, and structural efficiency.

His professional background includes sports medicine and performance training. He served as Head Athletic Trainer and Assistant Coach for the New York Athletic Club Lacrosse program for 28 years, and as Fitness Director for SporTime Health Club. His expertise in injury recovery and functional movement has helped countless athletes return safely and effectively to full performance.

He was awarded the Most Valuable Player Silver Plate in recognition of his exceptional contribution to helping athletes recover from field injuries. In 2013, he was nominated Instructor of the Year by the World Head of Family Sokeship Hall of Fame, honoring his leadership, teaching excellence, and dedication to martial arts development.

Notably, Sifu German developed his unique Subway Method of Rooting through daily training within the New York City subway system—an environment requiring constant adjustment to unpredictable motion, confined space, and shifting balance.

He personally applied Tai Chi, Qi Gong, and sports medicine principles during a critical period of illness when both of his legs temporarily shut down, using slow movement and breath training to restore mobility and strength. This lived experience deeply informs the longevity-centered system presented in this book.

His martial credentials include:

  • 8th Dan Grandmaster of Wuju Do Martial Arts

  • Master in Bo Fung Do Kung Fu

  • Fifth-degree Black Belt in Dan Zan Ryu Jujitsu

  • Fourth-degree Black Belt in Vietnamese Martial Arts

  • First-degree Black Belt in Judo

He has trained military personnel, law enforcement agencies, executive protection teams, and civilians across the United States.

Tai Chi for Longevity reflects a lifetime dedicated to helping others move, heal, and live with strength, balance, and purpose.
